Join us in a celebration of dance, culture, and community as we embark on a journey to World Belly Dance Day. Starting January 13th, you’ll have the opportunity to learn choreographies for a cause and be part of an unforgettable experience. Together, we’ll raise funds to benefit The Nest, a center for women, children, and families in Lexington. This is your chance to discover the magic of belly dance, refine your skills, and shine on stage. We will end our Journey on May 10th, World Belly Dance Day, with fun activities and an evening fundraiser show that you’ll be a part of! Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to make a difference and celebrate the art of dance!

1. Learn to belly dance for a great cause! Learn two exciting belly dance choreographies and have the option to perform them in a gala show benefitting The Nest, center for children and families in Lexington! No experience necessary! Registration for the choreo classes is $25 per choreo or $40 for both and 100% of the proceeds is donated to local non-profit, The Nest, Center for Women, Children & Families.

2. First Choreo is a beautiful, enchanting veil dance! Classes January 13th through March 6th. (Registration is open. Must register by Jan 13th) Classes available Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday In-studio and Online. Join us at Arabesque World Dance in Lexington or via videos and livestream. Take as many classes as you want!

3. Second Choreo is an exciting traditional belly dance piece! Classes March 10th through May 8th (Registration is open. Must register by Mar 10th.) Classes available Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday In-studio and Online. Take as many as you want!

4. On World Belly Dance Day (Saturday, May 10th) Arabesque studio will be hosting ‘Daytime Discovery Workshops’, Three unique and exciting workshops to introduce attendees to some of the different styles of belly dance. (Donations at the door. Pay what you want. 100% of the proceeds go to the Nest! No registration necessary)100% of the proceeds from registration through the show will go to benefit the local non-profit, The Nest, Center for Women, Children & Families.

5. Benefit Gala Show – Feather the Nest! On the evening of World Belly Dance day, Arabesque studio will host an amazing fundraiser show for the Nest with belly dance and variety performances. We will have a lineup of new and seasoned performers to take the stage. Registrants of our special choreo classes, this is your time to Shine! The group choreos will be performed as our special highlight of the evening!

6. Four class card drawing for choreo registrants! At the end of the evening show we will have a drawing for a 4-class card to help you along on your journey into the exciting world of belly dance!

On May 10th, it’s your turn to shine alongside your fellow students in a captivating group performance. Its time to showcase your newfound skills in our benefit show, supporting The Nest, center for women, children and families in Lexington.

On March 10th, dive into the vibrant world of belly dancing with our exhilarating traditional belly dance choreo. Over the course of two months, you’ll learn a fun group choreo of gooey undulations, exciting hip movements, and playful shimmies that define this captivating dance form. Our Instructor/Choreographer Safiya Nawaar will guide you through each step, refining your movements and ensuring that you gain confidence and skill for this lively choreography. By the end, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your skills in our benefit show, supporting The Nest, a center for children and families in Lexington.

What to Expect? We are thrilled to offer two unique and exciting choreographies that dancers can register for. The first choreography will be taught in January and February, and the second in March and April. Safiya Nawaar will guide you through each step, ensuring that you gain confidence and skill in these beautiful dance forms. Whether you choose to attend in-studio or from the comfort of your home via videos and live streams, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive and inspiring environment. This event is for all of you! Each choreo will be taught over two months, and then registrants have the opportunity to perform their magic in our World Belly Dance Day celebration on May 10.

This is the Day we’ve been waiting for! Leading up to our evening show that Shimmy and Shine registrants have been preparing for, we’ve got some amazing daytime activities planned! On World Belly Day at Arabesque we will have three unique workshops to introduce participants to the some of the diverse styles of dance that come from the Middle East and North Africa. Unlike the two special choreos above, our ‘Daytime Discovery Workshops’ will instead focus on technique and combos. The workshops are FREE and do not require registration!
