Beginner Yoga w/Safiya @ Arabesque World Dance

Beginner Yoga Class directed by Safiya Nawaar, RYT at Arabesque World Dance. Weekly classes, every Wednesday evenings at 6:00 PM.

Sometimes we need time to revitalize and regroup.
Life can be a real Rat Race and we rarely take time to just live in the moment, so join us at Arabesque for physical enlightenment. Our Yoga class is all about getting in touch with yourself, your body and your breath.
Students will learn exercises to improve flexibility, balance and to improve breath capacity.
~Please bring your own Yoga Mat, blocks, strap, and blankets.~
(We Do have a small supply of Yoga Props available for purchase at the studio, please contact us for more info.)
Our Beginner Yoga classes will have an emphasis on the physical postures (asanas), and sequences of asanas, designed to focus your mind on alignment of muscles and bones while coordinating movement of your body with your breath. Each class will begin with a quiet period for centering the mind and setting a focus for the class. A brief period of breathing exercises as well as warming and stretching the muscles and opening the joints will follow.
Students will receive individualized attention while learning and practicing traditional poses, the importance of linking the breath with movement, and the use of props to assist with alignment, balance and stability, enabling you to enjoy the full benefits of a pose with ease while your body gains in strength and flexibility. During class we will work on a balance between strength and flexibility, building endurance and self-awareness through precision in movement and attention to subtle aspects of posture and breath, releasing stress and tension throughout the body.
This class is appropriate for students of all levels and no prior experience is necessary.
This is an ongoing class (not a session.)
$12 Drop in Fee or Pay $45 for a Six Week Session or $75 Month Unlimited Class Pass
All Students will be Required to Pre-Pay and Pre-register for any classes they wish to attend. We will no longer be allowing walk ins at this time. In order to keep control of how many students attend the classes.

Get ready for some Intensive Training with Safiya Raqs Technique, Drills, and Stagecraft Class on Thursday Nights!
(Previously these classes were on Tuesdays)
Available LIVE in Studio & ONLINE in ArabesqueLex-Online
These Classes are geared for Students of ALL LEVELS!
Every week students will work on Arab dance foundation moves from the ground up, and then as class progresses we will add layers, and levels to these foundation moves, to explore the beauty and artistic extent of each move.
We will incorporate Drills to build Muscle memory, and tone our muscles, as well as discuss musicality, dynamics, and other stagecraft elements as part of the overall training.
Each Class will work on a different family of moves, so students can easily join in on any week.
Classes will start with a basic set of warm ups, and end with a cool down and stretching period. Safiya recommends bringing a Yoga mat for the stretching at the end of class, as we will get down on the floor!
IMPORTANT:
Students attending the In Person Classes will be required to RSVP/Register for the classes and Pay in Advance, as we are keeping the In Person Class Attendance to a minimum due to government regulations.
Cost is $12 per class, $45 for a 6 week Session, or Use your Month Unlimited pass.

If you are a dancer interested in taking your skills to the stage or becoming a professional dancer, or you just want to ramp up your dance repertoire…..this is the class for you!

This is a class for dedicated dancers only.
Amongst your classmates you will find members of Troupe Hala Alimah as well as dancers who perform professionally.

If you have not been invited to join this class and are interested, please contact Safiya to schedule an appointment….we are always looking for more dancers who want to take that next step.

Styles of dance taught in this class include but are not limited to……
Raqs Sharqi, Baladi, Saidi, Turkish Roma, Classical Egyptian, and Tribal Fusion (to name a few)

Classes run approx. 120 mins long, all students are required to purchase their own props as needed for the classes. Basic Props required immediately are Sagat and a Silk Veil. Other props will be discussed in class when the time comes.

Class cost: $15.00 Drop in Fee or Use a Class Card
