Starting Friday, September 29th! A New Six Week Session of Bellydance FUNdamentals with Amorina at Arabesque World Dance!! This Session’s Subject will be the Egyptian Saidi Rhythm and Raqs Assaya (Cane or Stick Dance).

Saidi & Assaya class will be all about learning to dance with the “assaya” or cane, which is danced to the “Saidi” rhythm. “Saidi” means from the South (Upper) Egypt. This is one of the most popular Egyptian folk dances and it is commonly called Raqs Al Assaya, which means “cane dance”. In this class we will begin with a little history, warm up, then practicing drills to become comfortable with the assaya, followed by combinations that are commonly used with Raqs Al Assaya. There will be canes available to borrow or to purchase at the studio. Prepare yourself for a fun interactive dance!!!

The FUNdamentals Classes at Arabesque are designed to help new students learn the basics of Belly Dance, to help build a strong foundation in dance technique. Students of Intermediate and Advanced Levels are also encouraged to attend these classes as a means to maintain the quality of their dance technique.
